Spirit of Service Award

PURPOSE OF SPIRIT OF SERVICE AWARD 

            To recognize and honor an individual whose dedication and leadership has significantly contributed to promoting, protecting and supporting breastfeeding as a vital part of the health and development of children and their families. 

CRITERIA FOR SPIRIT OF SERVICE AWARD

• Acknowledges breastfeeding as a vital health issue.
• Actively promotes and supports breastfeeding to families and the community.
• Supports breastfeeding women in the workplace.
• Recognizes and supports policies and recommendations on breastfeeding.  Refer to website links:

Nominations accepted year round.  Print the Spirit of Service Nomination form and attach a description in 500 words or less how this person has met the criteria above.  Please list specific examples of programs, projects, organizations etc. related to breastfeeding with which the nominee has been involved.  Include specific examples of leadership and activities that have made a difference in their community, specifically in regards to working with others to support the rights of women and children.

The Awards Selection Committee will coordinate selection of the annual nominee. 

The Breastfeeding Coalition of Palm Beach County presents awards once a year.

Employer Award

PURPOSE OF EMPLOYER AWARD 

            To recognize and honor a company who has shown leadership and significantly contributed to promoting, protecting and supporting breastfeeding as a vital part of the health and development of children and their families. 

When nominating a company for the EMPLOYER AWARD, please consider the following: 

• Does the company have a written breastfeeding policy?
• Is the mother allowed flexibility and time to pump throughout the workday?
• Does the office have a room(s) where employees can breastfeed/pump?  If there is a room, what is it like?
• If there is not a room, is there access to electrical outlets and privacy?
• Are breast pumps available to employees?
• Is there any other form of lactation support?  Does the company have any information on the percentage of employees using the services and their satisfaction?
• What is their family leave policy like?

Please print the Employer Award nomination form, attach documentation for the above listed considerations that support the company’s worthiness of this award.  Site visits may be made to determine the award recipient.
