Our mission is to ensure a strong, positive climate of breastfeeding promotion, education and support through continued coordination of activities utilizing varied resources and a cooperative network of community individuals, organizations and agencies.

The Breastfeeding Coalition of Palm Beach County was founded in 1992 and over the past 15 years has continued to serve breastfeeding families in our community. Our active members represent hospitals, childbirth educators, doulas, lactation consultants, university faculty, physicians, nurses, business owners, nutritionists, health department providers, social service agencies, and breastfeeding mothers (past and present)! All are welcome.

The Breastfeeding Coalition receives no government or private foundation funding, relying solely on membership donations and contributions to continue its work. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for our inclusion in our breastfeeding brochure.

Services to the community include

	An updated, online resource for professionals and families (www.pbcbreastfeeding.org)
	“Support for Breastfeeding Families” brochure available online and distributed in hospitals, physician offices, health clinics, birthing classes, and community events
	Evidence based professional seminars on lactation management available through the Professional Education Program
	Publishing and distributing 4 reference sheets (updated twice/year) for Palm Beach County listing IBCLCs (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants), hospital services, classes and support available for breastfeeding families, and breast pump providers for rentals and sales. Published materials are made available online and distributed in hospitals, physician offices, health clinics and at community events.

Library Project
The Palm Beach County Breastfeeding Coalition has an ongoing project that provides books on breastfeeding to our local libraries.Through this project we have placed 11 different titles in all locations in the Palm Beach County Library system. We are now working to provide these titles to local city libraries. Donations of books and/or funding to purchase books would be greatly appreciated!
